Yankees vs Orioles preview 4/4/19
The Yankees will look to bounce back today in Baltimore after dropping 2/3 to both the Orioles on the opening series of the year and Detroit at home. It starts with lefty James Paxton to help carry the Yankees and their depleted lineup. The Yankees are 2-4 heading into today’s matchup.
Player to watch:
Aaron Judge
Today Judge goes into the game 7-21 on the year and has been hitting the ball well. However, the same cannot be said about his teammates. Judge will really need to step up and try and carry this offense that strikes out more than they make contact.
Pitching matchup:
Paxton gets the ball against Alex Cobb who was scratched for opening day and will make his season debut today. Cobb will look to continue Baltimore’s early season success after 115 losses last season. Paxton pitches very well in his season debut boasting a 1.59 ERA despite not getting any run support. This could be a good pitching matchup and could come down to who can capitalize on big opportunities at the plate that could decide this one with an injury ridden Yankee squad.
Lineup:
Brett Gardner CF
Aaron Judge RF
Luke Voit DH
Gary Sanchez C
Greg Bird 1B
DJ LeMahieu 3B
Gleyber Torres SS
Clint Frazier LF
Tyler Wade 2B
Location: Camden Yards
First pitch: 3:05 PM
