Frank Franklin II/AP

The Yankees start a 3 game series with the Rays tonight! This is a huge series If the Yankees sweep the rays they will have taken over first place and have a half game lead over the Rays.

Game 1 Friday May 10th

Pitching preview

It is a match up of two of the best pitchers in the majors Domingo German and Tyler Glasnow. German and Glasnow are tied for the league lead in wins but Tyler Glasnow has an ERA of 1.47! This will be great pitching duel that could go either way!

Keys to game

Don't walk many batters: German has been terrific this year but he has had a slight problem with walks.

Capitalize on your opportunities: Tyler Glasnow has arguably been the best pitcher in the majors this year if you have a chance to score you need to capitalize!

Location: Tropicana field

First Pitch: 7:10 PM ET

Game 2 Saturday May 11

Pitching preview

CC Sabathia is the confirmed starter for the Yankees and he has had a great start to the season with a record of 2-1 and an ERA of 3.20 he has given the Yankees all they could want. The Rays have not announced a starter yet.

Keys to the game

Keep the ball in the park: CC has had a tough time with the home run ball this year if he locates his pitches the Rays will have trouble hitting the ball out of the park.

Work the count: the Yankees are at the best when they make pitchers work, when a pitcher is tired he makes mistake, so stay disciplined and work the count.

Location: Tropicana Field

First Pitch: 6:10 PM ET

Game 3 Sunday May 12

Pitching preview

Tanaka time takes on the reigning CY Young award winner, Blake Snell. Tanaka has had his ups and down this season but has been one of the Yankees best starters. Snell has had a good season as well but has taken a step back from his dominant season last year. It should be another good pitching match up in the final game of this 3 game set!

Keys to the game

Keep the ball in the park(again): Tanaka is another pitcher on the Yanks who has trouble with the home run ball. As long as he stays calm and locates he'll be fine but when he speeds up there's trouble.

Get the ball in the air: Snell has also had trouble with the home run this year the Yankees should try and capitalize on that and put the ball in the air!

Location: Tropicana field

First Pitch: 1:10 PM ET

This is a big series for the Yankees and if they perform well they could be sitting in first place with a 1 and a half game lead over the Rays!
