Yankees lose to the Tigers 2-1 in another tough loss
The 2019 season has not started the way the Yankees or most Yankee fans would have liked it too. Today was just another disappointing performance for the Bronx Bombers.
The Yankees offense was horrendous today they couldn't hit anything or even put the ball in play. The Yankees struck out 18 times a team record for a 9 inning game.
The Yankees took an early lead when Judge hit a RBI single in the 3rd inning but the lead didn't last long. In the top of the 4th Detroit tied it up when Stewart hit a sac fly.
The Tigers eventually took the lead when Gordon Beckham hit a home run off Chad Green to put the Tigers up 2-1 a lead they wouldn't give up.
Jonathan Loaisiga pitched okay he went 4 innings and only allowed 1 run but could have given more length instead of making the bullpen have to throw 5 innings.
The Yankee bullpen was great it was helped by 2 scoreless inning from Jonathan Holder and one scoreless inning from Zack Britton. The only mistake made by the bullpen was when Chad Green gave up a go ahead home run to Gordon Beckham but still a good bullpen performance.
The offense was absolutely horrible to only put up 1 run against a team like the Tigers is embarrassing. The Yankees may be missing some key contributors from the lineup but even when missing Aaron Hicks, Stanton and Andujar the offense should be able to produce more than one run.
The Yankees will travel to Baltimore a take on the Orioles tomorrow at 3:05 in the first of a 3 game series. The Yankees need to pick it up especially in games against teams like the Tigers and Orioles.
