A late Yankee comeback attempt failed as the Yankee lose to the Astros and are swept in 3 straight games.

Game Recap

The Yankee offense provided enough run support to win. The Yankees scored 6 runs on 10 hits and 2 home runs from Brett Gardner and Luke Voit. The pitching was what really let the Yankees down. Paxton was not good at all he went just 4 innings and let up 5 runs almost every ball hit against him was hit hard, he looked terrible. Khanle wasn't very good either who came in to relieve Paxton but didn't provide much relief as he gave up two runs before being forced out of the game. From the 6th inning on the Yankee bullpen picked it up besides for Britton allowing an RBI single. But it was too late and the Yankees still ended up falling to the Astros 8-6.

Summary

The Yankees started off the game well when Brett Gardner hit a leadoff home run to make it a 1-0 Yankee lead but that wouldn't last for long.

The scoring started for the Astros in the first when Altuve hit a solo shot and then Gurriel tripled in a run making it a 2-1 lead after the first inning.

The Astros struck again in the 3rd when Correa hit a booming double to right to drive in Michael Brantly, that gave them a 3-1 lead after 3.

The Yankees bounced back in the top of the 4th when D.J. LeMahieu drove in Torres on a sacrifice fly to cut the Astro lead to 3-2.

The 5th was another big inning it began when Jose Altuve rocked Paxton for his second home run of the day. Then Correa hit a 2 run homer off of Tommy Khanle to make it 6-2. Finally Marisnick hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-2.

In the top of the 8th the Yankees attempted to make a comeback. Judge walked which was followed by a homer from Luke Voit making it a 7-4 game. Then a few batter later D.J. LeMahieu hit a double to drive in Torres. Frazier then hit a sac fly to drive home Bird. After the top of the 8th it was a one run game in Houston.

The Astros got one run back in the home half of the 8th when George Springer hit an RBI single scoring Marisnick.

This proved to much for the Yankees who were closed out in the 9th.

The Yankee will play the White Sox Friday in New York at 7:05 PM. Hopefully the Yankee pitching can improve and keep the Yankees in games.
