Yankees can’t come through in big opportunities drop tough one to Orioles
The 2nd game of the 2019 season was not as good as the first.
The game started off great Paxton started off the game 1-2-3 with 2 strikeouts in the first inning. Then within the first 2 batters for the Yankees they were already threatening to put the game out of reach but they just couldn’t come through. When Andujar grounded out with the bases loaded.
The Yankees finally got on the board when DJ LeMahieu singled home a run. But even in that inning there were potential more runs left on the bases and the Yankees just didn't capitalize on those opportunities.
Paxton was cruising until the 6th inning when he allowed 2 straight singles and eventually one more too drive in a run. Then a double steal caused Sanchez to throw away the ball and in came in another run. None of that was really on Paxton so all in all not a bad debut for Paxton.
The Orioles would add 3 more insurance runs against the Chad Green and Jonathan Holder.
In the 9th the Yankees seemed to start a rally when Troy Tulowitzki hit his first home run since 2017 into the second deck in right field. Eventually Voit would drive in another run with a bloop single. But the rally was ended when Andujar struck out swinging.
The Yankees play again tomorrow at 1:05 for the final game of this series. J.A. Happ will get the start!
