Luke Voit leads Yankees in opening day win

The 2019 Season started with a Bang.

Only half an inning into the 2019 season Luke Voit picked up right where he left off last season blasting a three run bomb into monument park. The Yankees wouldn't look back and neither would Voit.

The Yankees loaded the bases in the third for Andujar but he grounded into a double play scoring Judge making the lead 4-0.

In the 4th inning the Yankee defense allowed the Orioles to score a run when an Andujar throwing error put Trey Mancini in scoring position and was singled in by Rio Ruiz.

The Yankees scored two more runs in the 6th when Voit was hit by a pitch too force in a run and Andujar hit a sac fly to bring in the second run giving the Yankees a 6-1 lead.

Tanaka time was also back he threw 5.2 great innings and only allowed 2 runs. After he left Adam Ottavino made his Yankee debut and stuck out 3 of the 4 batter he faced.

Following was Zach Brittion who threw on uneventful 8th inning. In the home side of the 8th Greg Bird hit a homer too extended the lead to 5.

Chapman closed out the win in the 9th.

This was a great overall team win the offense was clicking, Tanaka pitched brilliantly and the bullpen was terrific.

The Yankees have off tomorrow and will play the Orioles again Saturday at 1:05 where we'll see the first glimpse of James Paxton in pinstripes!
