Gary powers Yankees to 6-3 win over the Twins

YANKEES win!! The Yankees took down the Twins 6-3 tonight snapping their two game skid vs a very solid Minnesota squad. However this win didn’t come without sacrifice. Starter James Paxton went down and joined the rest of the Yankees on the IL with a left knee inflammation. This is yet another bad blow for this Yankee team that has been injury ridden season.

However, there were several positives in this W.

The Yankees got on the board early with an RBI single by Gleyber Torres in the first inning. Voit added on to make it 2-0 in the second inning. Fast forward to the 4th inning as Tauchman scored scored on a wild pitch scoring the Yankees 3rd run of the game. Gardner then extended the lead with an rbi groundout. In the 5th and 7th, Gary Sanchez launched a pair of home runs making it 10 on the season and extending the Yankee lead to 7-1.

Paxton did not have it however as he was only able to make it 3 innings, having to leave the game with an injury. Albeit he did not allow a run in that short time.

The bullpen was very solid as well as Holder, Ottavino and Kahnle held down the fort. Britton struggled but the Yankees still got the job done.

The Yankees take on the Twins in game 2 on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
